This is a sort of follow up from my last journal, the one where I bought a suit from DokiDoki Furry studio. I bought a fursuit from a similar website meowfursuits.com for anybody curious about it.

I chose to do the mystery box option for my first time buy as well. They have mystery boxes for each part, head, tails, handpaws, and feetpaws. So I chose all the options, so i could get a completely random full partial. You can customize your randomization wish if you choose to a certain extent. I would recommend putting your head measurement in the notes and I recommend buying the head first before the other parts, as I will go into detail later. I chose to do all at the same time, however.

I asked the company about how the mystery boxes were selected and this is my conversation.

I tried to include screenshots but they ended up being unreadable for some reason so I will just copy and paste the convo.

Me: Hi there! I had a question about how the mystery boxes work? Are they pulled from a pool of available products on your website? Or are they made-to-order based

Meow Fursuits: Hello, We typically select items based on the requests left in your order notes. These items usually aren't listed in our shop and are considered new, unreleased pieces. But don't worry, you'll definitely be satisfied with the quality and style. Have a great day, babe!

Me: Okay, great!

Do you send a picture of the design chosen thru email before mailing it? Or is it left as a total surprise to customers? What is the estimated delivery time for them?

Thank you for your time.

Meow Fursuits: Hello, Rest assured, we’re definitely going to surprise you, haha! We expect to ship it out this week!

Have a great day, babe!

A tad bit vague but okay, I decided to take the risk. Shipping took a little bit, i think it was somewhere around 4-5 weeks. Here is the suit I ended up receiving.

As you can see, the tail, hand paws, and feetpaws all match really well. I dont think they matched the head of the character but i didn't expect them to since you buy each part separately for the mystery box. The head is also a tad small on me, the mask sits super close to my face but I can still get it on my head. I forgot to give my measurements when ordering so it really was on me for that. This is why I recommend buying the head first and writing your measurements in. That way you can request the rest of the mystery boxes to be like the head or just buy those premade somewhere else. The head is very well made, I saw no general mistakes and its very symmetrical and durable. I removed the crown that came with it since it was a little small to stay on the head without falling off. The hand paws were great too, no complaints there. The tail is electric and wags up and down, which is cool, but the way it was attached to the belt was poorly done. It fell off its base immediately and I had to gorilla glue it back on. I ended up accidentally breaking it off the base again and need to re-glue it again. I do wish they would have sown it to the belt or something cuz it is really annoying having to repair it every time I wear it. The electric mechanic works just fine with is great. The feetpaws, I didn't love so much either. I hate the shoe they used for a base, its some type of bedroom slipper and I just have never liked these kinds of sandals/slippers. I have a hard time walking in it and the rim of the boots are make of some stiff material. So they look like fuzzy boots. I had a friend modify them for me so that they hug my leg.

It was fully expecting to get a random hybrid out of this and it bothered me that 3/4 of the pieces I got actually matched so I ended up getting some paws to match the character.

I got the hooves from the same company but I didn't blind box it this time. I used their customization method to get the hand and feet paws I wanted. Here is what I ended up getting.iu_1292148_22723404.webp

I love the feetpaws much more than the black ones. They dont use the stupid sandal as a base and they have an elastic rim around the top of it so it actually hugs around my legs. They are much more comfy to wear and I wish the black ones were like this. But they were a little more expensive than the black ones (remember the black ones were in a mystery box) so it makes sense they were better quality.

By the way, I had no idea who made the head since there was no card in the package and this head was not listed on the website. I asked Meow via Instagram Dms and here is what they said.

apparently, that translates to Seven Silver, according to google.

This user also seems to be a legit maker of this site, as I have seen their work being credited under different premade heads. By the way, Meow fur suits credits each maker in every listing, so you can know who made it, in addition to every instagram post. I wish DokiDoki did this, they only credit the makers on instagram posts but not on the actual listings to the website. I do wish both companies would include a card or something from the maker when shipping out the package.

But anyway, since I know have a full suit, I decided to buy a head to match the black paws and tail I initially received. I saw this one on the website and decided to buy it.

And here is me wearing it once it arrived. Again, shipping for the premade stuff seems to take around 4-5 weeks. So about a month or so.

by the way, the maker of this suit goes by the name "ghost". this was listed on the website but i didnt' capture it on the screenshot.

I do believe it is one and the same suit as pictured. I removed some of the hair accessories such as the braid cuffs since they kept falling out, but also the suit included some additional hair clips not listed. I do wish the bat wings were reinforced with wire since they got a little bit squished from packaging. I didnt style the hair as nicely as the photo either. But I do think this one is really well made too. It actually has more head inside so I can wear my glasses comfortable underneath the mask, so I like that quite a bit.

Speaking of visibility I will now talk about that for both suits. For Kig suits, the anatomy of the mask has the eyebrows of the face line up with your human eyes and the eyes of the face line up with your nose and mouth. You will notice the mesh of the eyes and eyebrows on each mask. So you actually look thru the eyeybrows and breathe thru the eyes. This makes it a tad difficult to see, since the eyebrows are very tiny. It is like looking thru a peephole on a hotel door. I have adjusted the wearing position of the mask so I can cheat a little bit and see out of the eyes but my chin does hang out the bottom of the mask when I do this (I hide it with a balaclava). Its a little bit tough to see but I managed to walk around by myself at a anime con recently without much struggle. I think it takes a little bit getting used to it.

I saw recently that MeowFursuits now offers Kemono style heads, which had I known, I would have waited for before buying my second head. They offer them as mystery boxes so who knows, maybe down the line I will get one of the those to see how they are. I love the Kemono style and they have some really cute ones up for sale.

Would I recommend MeowFursuits? Yes. They are considerably less expensive than DokiDoki and their quality is actually pretty good. I actually dont notice any significant differences between the two suits I got from each website, other than the complaints I had with the mystery box tail and feet paws. And it seems if you get the custom ones, they are lot better anyway. The shipping does take longer than DokiDoki, so if you need a suit in time for an event, buy one at lease 2 months in advance. They have OK communication. I got more responses thru instagram DMs than I did with email, which is strange since they prefer email communication.

All in all, I think Meow is a great place to start looking if you want a less expensive suit. I enjoy the two that I have quite a bit.

If you have any specific questions about my buying experience or would like more photos, I can provide that. I have had my suits since August and will continue to wear them so I dont mind answering questions.

I do have more pics of each suit on my instagram, I didnt want to flood this blog with photos so here is the link those posts as well.
